After getting the sign off from my infectious disease specialist and neurosurgeon the tissue expanding surgery is booked in for 7 March 2022. The tissue expander will be placed under my skin at the back of my head to stretch the skin gradually, this will allow my surgeons to fit the new titanium skull to avoid performing a skin graft.
My latest MRI showed that the mass that appeared on the last scan in Nov 2021 is still in the previous surgical site. My neurosurgeon plans to perform a craniotomy to hopefully resect the mass when he goes in to perform the cranioplasty.
I am currently getting everything organised to go in for surgery, my neurosurgeon asked me to shave my head so they can plan for the surgery ahead. Another step closer to getting back to normality!
